旨趣：
我相信社會學蘊涵著無限寬廣的發想空間，不論是發酵於個人累積的生命經驗，是激發於人群對社會事件或歷史情境的爭辯，還是溯源於既有學術理論的養分。然而，我也認為任何型態的社會學探索，皆需夠質達量的經驗資料來加以映照，才足以被視為影響眾人、穿透社會的「社會學知識」，也才不會淪於片面的個人看法或單一敘述而已。 因此，我偏好由經驗資料庫來理解社會的運作模式，解讀觸及眾人的社會故事，即使需面對由概念化爬梳到操作化測量間的必然落差。 我的研究主題聚焦於反應個人切身生活品質的印記（如健康、憂鬱、過勞、老化擔心等），也關懷承載社會脈動的社會心理反射（如對婚外性、同性婚姻、婚家體制的態度）。 透過生命歷程的視角，我琢磨著這些指標在人們生命中的變化軌跡，也嘗試捕捉各類型社會與人口特質（如教育、勞動身分、階級、社會關係、代間關係、宗教、性別、世代等）對其的影響，以及形構的不平等。 我的研究專長自然也擴散至我的各類與各級教學，並透過「氣氛開懷，內容不失實在」的教學風格而散播，也獲得《教學優良獎》的肯定。
